Barbara Hershey née Barbara Lynn Herzstein le 5 février 1948 à Hollywood en Californie est une actrice américaine.
Née d'une mère d'origine irlandaise et d'un père d'origine juive qui était journaliste dans les courses de chevaux, elle a fait son lycée à Hollywood. Elle a commencé la carrière d'actrice par des petits rôles dans trois épisodes de Gidget in 1965, puis dans la série télévisée The Monroes (1966), ce qui ne fut pas vraiment une expérience épanouissante.
Ses débuts dans le cinéma seront marqués par la comédie With Six You Get Eggroll (1968) - à laquelle Doris Day participait aussi, mais pour sa dernière fois - ou le western Au paradis à coups de révolver (Heaven with a Gun) de Glenn Ford, où apparaît aussi David Carradine. Tous deux furent un symbole de la contre-culture d'Hollywood, formant un couple dont le premier enfant fut appelé 'Free' (nom qu'il changea ensuite pour Tom).
